Center for Renewable Energies in Cameroon Sets New Standards
Lucas-Nuelle supports the University of Yaoundé I in establishing a Center of Excellence
The University of Yaoundé I is one of Cameroon’s leading academic institutions. As part of a development project, a Center for Renewable Energies was established here, focusing on practical training in the fields of photovoltaics and energy management. The goal was to provide high-quality, labor market-oriented education for young people – with a special focus on women and disadvantaged groups. Lucas-Nülle contributed extensive technical expertise, modern training systems, and training concepts. The project implementation included not only equipment installation and commissioning but also teacher training and the joint development of innovative curricula in close collaboration with industry.
The center marks a milestone in workforce development. Close cooperation with companies ensures that the training content meets current energy market demands. Graduates acquire not only technical expertise but also entrepreneurial skills, increasing their employability and supporting self-employment. The project has since become a model for other universities in Cameroon – aiming to build a nationwide network of departments for renewable energies. The initiative combines innovation, inclusion, and sustainability, making a significant contribution to the region’s energy transition.
“This project impressively demonstrates how sustainable vocational education, technological innovation, and social responsibility can go hand in hand. Together with the University of Yaoundé I, we have created a learning environment that offers young people real prospects for the future – practical, market-oriented, and inclusive.” — Bernard Stevens, Team Lead Technical Sales at Lucas-Nuelle
